With a huge number of artists on the other side of the country to play sets at Glastonbury while their TV pluggers desperately try to get them BBC coverage.
Richard Ashcroft would instead take to the stage after racing at Newmarket, one week before beginning his tour supporting Oasis.

Swaggering to the front of stage greeting the thousands of fans, picking up his guitar and smashing straight into The Verve’s classic Sonnet.
The nine songs he would play would all be bangers, the big Verve singles, including personal fave Lucky Man. Whilst also playing some of his solo works including newest single Lover.

All of the songs would be delivered with his effortless rockstar presence, looking cool as hell and showing why he is ready to fire on all cylinders for the Oasis tour.
All underpinned with a note from Ashcroft “certainly pays better than Glastonbury”.
