Olympians at Norwich Waterfront

Saturday night was the latest Tilting Sky night at the Norwich Waterfront, with Norwich band Olympians taking the headlining slot. They were joined by Smokes Shoots and Leaves who opened up with their slightly wandering style which mixes vocals akin to Ellie Goulding with fast almost Arctic Monkeys-esque guitars. After them came Solko who filled most of the the stage and most of the crowd, with very well played ska/dub/reggae which their crowd seemed to love.

The penultimate act was Tortise Family Connections which pairs Kabeedies bassist Rory Hill up front, with Callum from These Ghosts on drums. They baffled some of the audience by telling them to “buy their cassettes” in between some very polished grungy pop songs, and dropping a cover of Hello to much of the crowd’s pleasure.

Olympians have been playing around Norwich for a few years now having previously been known as Hair Traffic Control, this experience shows when on stage, they command the audiences attention with their extremely well written melodic songs. Stand out of the gig had to be the latest single Foreign Language which is a brilliantly well crafted song.
